PCPOS, one of the top two UK suppliers of retail technology systems, and Prologic, leading fashion
IT specialists, have together secured a contract to the value of £225,000 with highly successful and
fast-growing lifestyle UK fashion brand, Ted Baker.
As part of a total system upgrade, old hardware in all 18 stores is being replaced with DigiPoS
systems. Ted Baker was already running Prologic CIMS software, an Oracle based multi channel retail
solution, linking every department of every shop.
The PCPOS and Prologic two-year-long partnership continues to offer retailers the complete IT
solution, from hardware and software to training and ongoing technical support. To date PCPOS and
Prologic have won contracts to supply systems for Style Holdings, Select, Space NK, Pilot Clothing,
Dune, Internacionale, Liberty and now, Ted Baker.
In 1998, with nine retail sites and three collections, Ted Baker had plans to grow. Sales had risen
from £14million in 1996 to £28million in 1998. With 18 retail stores, 30 concessions and a
portfolio of 11 collections, the company recognised the vital importance of putting in place an
infrastructure that can reliably grow with it to underpin on-going expansion. Any system also had
to be capable of integrating supply-chain processes through from design, production and warehousing
to the point of sale. Successful integration and management reporting were essential in the
management of such functions during rapid growth.
Said Ged Appleby, sales director of Prologic "The PCPOS Prologic partnership has once again proved
itself a winner, able to provide the best overall solution for a prominent retail fashion store.
DigiPoS is neat and unobtrusive - appearance is very important in shops where style is the keynote.
Retailers also enjoy the business benefits - low cost of ownership and reliability. The ability of
PCPOS to meet delivery deadlines helps us to keep our promises to the customer." Implementation
was achieved sooner than planned.
Said Ian Patterson, managing director of PCPOS, "We have also introduced a new facility -
diagnostic software - which is a disk on chip module, DOS-based, that enables remote testing of
functionality of printer, screen, scanner - the entire system. This is proving to be a very
cost-effective way of pre-empting potential problems where business can be disrupted or lost. Our
three-year, return to base, warranty is also highly valued by customers. Problems are rare but it
provides peace of mind. |
